Skillet: best band you’ve (probably) never heard of? (continued)

<< back to the first page, (if you haven’t already seen it)

Here is a drum solo to show off some of Jen’s drumming talent:

And, if you also haven’t recognized how vocally talented she is, here is a little treat. Here is Jen performing a song called “My Arms” from her solo-project, Ledger, at home on the couch with an acoustic guitar backing. Shivers, goosebumps, and all of that!!! What a voice.

Ledger – “My Arms”

Time to introduce some more styles, but, before I do, someone created a great compilation of clips from the start of Skillet to almost the present. It gives a great taste of their sound over the years, in different configurations of the band. (I haven’t even gotten into their earlier stuff, yet.)

On with some of their rock tracks…

Skillet – “Hero”

Skillet – “Save Me”

Skillet – “Finish Line”

A bit similar to the above tracks, but with a more anthemic feel, ‘Legendary’ is used by WWE. Here is a great live-footage video version of this song:

Skillet – “Legendary”

Now for something a bit heavier, but with Skillet, they still find a way to include the beauty and hook-y sections and riffs. This band really is a hook-fest, and I love it! After you listen to one of their songs a few times, it is often hard to get out of your head for weeks… but in a good way.

Skillet – “Surviving the Game”

Here is a live version, which I have included to show Jen’s drumming. Again, not a drummer here, but this song seems rather complex in terms of the drum part.
